CALL FOR HAMPTON DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE REORGANIZATION MEETING TO ELECT MEMBERS OF HAMPTON DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE
Pursuant to the authority provided by the Democratic Party of Virginia Democratic Party Plan, Hampton Democratic Committee hereby calls a reorganization meeting. This meeting will be held at 6:30 on December 8, 2015, at Avenue Blue 2330 McMenamin Street. Hampton VA located in the Peninsula Town Center.
- Incorporated Documents
All appropriate provisions of the Virginia Democratic Party Plan (“State Party Plan”), as amended, and the Bylaws (“Bylaws”) of the Hampton Democratic Committee are incorporated into this Call by reference and made a part hereof.
The sole purpose of this reorganization shall be to elect members of the Hampton Democratic Committee for two-year terms, in accordance with the State Party Plan and Bylaws.
- Candidate Filing Deadline and Requirements:
All candidates must meet the requirements specified by the State Party Plan and the Bylaws and must submit a filing form and filing fee. Available Officer Positions- Chair/Co Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair,3rd Vice Chair, Treasurer, 1st secretary, 2nd Secretary, Parliamentarian/Sgt @ Arms.
The candidate filing form and the $10.00 filing fee must be received by 6:00 PM EST on Monday, December 7, 2015 at either the above postal address, by mail or by hand, or by email at email@example.com
Individuals who cannot afford the filing fee may obtain a confidential waiver by contacting the Chair of the Hampton Democratic Committee.
- Notice Requirements:
It shall be the duty of the Hampton Democratic Committee its officers to insure that this call receives the widest possible dissemination.
- Voting Eligibility and Requirements:
Any person attending the caucus, before participating in that caucus, shall sign a standardized Caucus Participation Form stating that he or she is a Democrat, does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the ensuing general election, believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and is a registered voter in such precinct or county or city. Caucus Participation Forms must be filled out at the caucus prior to participating in the caucus
- Caucus Committees and Officers:
The Chair of the Hampton Democratic Committee shall appoint temporary rules and credentials committees which will publish rules and credentials procedures for the reorganization.
Participation in the Caucus is open to all registered voters who wish to participate as Democrats. The Hampton Democratic Committee shall conduct a vigorous outreach effort to insure that all members of the Democratic community are aware of the reorganization and how to participate. Such outreach shall be directed to all Democratic constituencies, including groups such as ethnic minorities, young people, persons over 65 years of age, lesbians and gay men, persons with a high school education or less, persons with differing abilities, and persons of low and moderate income.
- Election of Hampton Democratic Committee Officers:
The officers of the Committee shall be elected by the newly-organized Committee at the Holiday Party (Dec.8) of the Committee following the reorganization meeting. Candidates will be nominated from the floor and may have a total of five minutes for themselves or others to advocate their candidacy. Voting shall be by secret, written ballot of the members present. In the event of a tie, the vote shall be retaken by secret written ballot. If there is still a tie, a coin shall be tossed to determine the winner. If no seats are contested than a vote by hand of HDC members will confirm the slate.
